Lake Powell 2012

Summer 2012 kicked off with an earlier-than-usual trip to Lake Powell.
When I think about places that feed my soul, Lake Powell is the top of the list.  Our Scott family has 15 years of memories associated with Lake Powell.  It has become our favorite tradition and favorite vacation.  We didn't go to the lake last year, which made this year's trip even more exciting.

Lake Powell means so many different things to me.
It's very challenging to summarize the experience, but here goes...

Lake Powell is about family.

This year we had everyone on the lake except Ashleigh.  We missed you Ashleigh.  We made t-shirts and painted everyone's name on the back.  It took a lot of work, but it was really fun to have them.

Lake Powell is about fun outdoor recreation...

Lake Powell is about traditions.

hand made ice cream...

riding the water weenie and strategizing about how to beat the "secret weapon" and not fall off..

games, dancing, and music...
lots of music...
(We even gathered a song from every family members and created a CD of favorites to listen to at the lake.  Each song reminded us of the person who submitted it.
Ashleigh, our new favorite is "Stuck Like Glue")

Lake Powell is about favorite
 menus and fun new recipes.

Lake Powell is about floating.
There is nothing more relaxing than floating in the lake.  We cool off, talk, swim, and play.

Lake Powell is about learning new things,

and challenging yourself to new heights.

Lake Powell is about fishing.

(Tyson caught this fish while holding the baby.  Notice the pacifier in his mouth ?!)

Lake Powell is about the beauty of God's creations.

Lake Powell is about letting go of the stress, especially if you are a recently returned missionary.

Most importantly, Lake Powell is about quality time with those you love.

I love Lake Powell.  It takes a lot of work to make it happen, but I am grateful for the opportunity to go and spend some much-needed uninterrupted time with my family.  It's a very special place.
