Charity and Service on the Homefront

Tomorrow I am having a lapraroscopic meniscectomy--
surgery to repair a torn meniscus in my right knee.
I'll admit, I'm a little nervous.

Last night I was feeling the stress of a two week recovery, and a long list of things to do before I was completely immobile.   I was a little overwhelmed, cranky, and even a little pouty.

When I woke up this morning I learned that while I was dreaming of my list of things to do, David was systematically checking things off my list.

1.  He unloaded and re-loaded the dishwashers,
and washed all the pots and pans (including one particularly difficult-to-clean broil pan that he spent almost 30 minutes cleaning!)

2. He cleaned the microwave

3. He folded the laundry

Then he also took care of a few things that were less necessary, but still on my list.
Such as...

Putting together the end table for the living room...

Taking down all my Valentine's decorations...

and bringing all my Spring decorations up the stairs from storage...

 He even feed the baby.

He was up from 10:30pm-2am completing these acts of service!
He was a little surprised how long it took, especially when you think it was uninterrupted time and he had two free hands to do it--meaning not holding a little baby while trying to multitask.

I am so humbled to think that while I was sleeping, he was sacrificing his sleep to selflessly help me.

That's love.
 I am very grateful.
Thank you, dear.

  1. Wow!!!! David, you are AMAZING! For me the little things are always so overwhelming for some reason- maybe because putting them all together makes for one long long long to- do list! Way to tackle it all David! Love ya!
