Last week a super typhoon tore through the Philippines and as many as 10,000 people are feared dead. The hardest hit area is Tacloban city. Many former LDS missionaries who served there are trying to help the people they love. This morning's Standard-Examiner article highlights some of those efforts. The need is great. Relief efforts are underway and ever-evolving. Also see Deseret News article.
My sister-in-law is helping to coordinate efforts along with her friend, a former Philippines missionary from the area. They have met with the Home Depot Regional Director this morning who arranged to have each Home Depot in Utah donate a "kit" with tools to help in the relief effort. This is just one way people are coming together. If we all help in little ways, the cumulative affect will be huge. Relief efforts often focus on specific needs: food, shelter, recovery, etc. I invite you to consider a donation in one of the following ways:
LDS Church/LDS Philanthropies
Philippine Red Cross

Thank you.
