Friday we joined friends and family to celebrate Brea's special day.
Brea and Jacob are in same Kindergarten class and share an aide. They understand each other on a unique level and theirs is a special friendship. It is a testament to me that, despite their physical or mental limitations, their spirits can communication and they have a lot to say. Brea is non-verbal, but she communicates a lot. It just takes a little extra effort and a willingness to listen.
Brea writes the sweetest notes to Jacob. I love to empty Jacob's backpack and find a note from her. What a treasure!! I save each one.

What would a carnival be without fun food?
Everyone enjoyed the snow cones, popcorn, and cotton candy.
Brea's grandpa cooked homemade corn dogs from a famous recipe, and there was a barrel full of drinks to help wash it all down.
Brea doesn't want people to make a fuss over her. Having lots of people sing Happy Birthday wasn't her idea of fun, but she was excited to open presents and had lots of help from her sister and friends.
All the elements were there to make for a perfect evening.
Happy Birthday Brea!
